Employer Highlight: Mount Nittany Health

Mount Nittany Health is an integrated multi-branch medical organization formed in 2011. Considered a leader in area health care and one of the region’s best places to work, it employs about 2,300 health care workers and support staff.

The organization is split into three groups: The Mount Nittany Medical Center, a 260-bed acute care hospital in State College, which offers medical, surgical and diagnostic services; The Mount Nittany Physician Group, a group of 150 health care providers across 30 specialties in 17 area locations; and the Mount Nittany Health Foundation, a fundraising entity for the parent organization’s new growth and development.

This collaboration means better health care for patients, assuring them the latest technology and expert medical professionals right in their own community. Not only is the group dedicated the quality of health care, but also in expanding its availability across the region. In fact, medical facilities are already in place in Centre County’s outlying communities, such as Philipsburg and Mifflin County.

Not only is Mount Nittany Health dedicated to its surrounding communities, but to one of the core groups that call this region home: Penn State and other students. Mount Nittany Health welcomes new and returning students, and is committed to simplifying the process of receiving quality health care — especially for those out on their own for the first time.

If your visit to one of the various out-patient locations leads to a stay at Mount Nittany Medical Center, rest assured that you’re in good hands. The hospital is inspected and licensed by agencies on the state and national level, and promotes quality care through a stringent credentialing process. More than 220 board-certified physicians in 40 specialties and subspecialties call Mount Nittany Medical Center home.

No matter what facility you’re in, Mount Nittany Health’s mission holds true: “We're here to make people healthier.” But there’s more to care at Mount Nittany Health than that. The hospital has an “alliance” with its patients, promising to treat them with dignity and respect while remaining committed to a service excellence-philosophy that aims to meet or exceed the patient’s expectations. Patient care is uniform throughout all facilities, no matter social, cultural, financial, religious, racial, gender or sexual orientation factors.

They’re also dedicated to the community, promising to represent its employees and its capabilities fairly and accurately to the public. The group knows how important it is to the public, and as a board-run organization, is committed to constant preparation for the long-term financial viability of its health care system.

Centre County residents and Mount Nittany Health have worked hand-in-hand since 1902 to make excellent local medical care a reality. Whether you're a visitor, an employee, a student or a patient, Mount Nittany Health is here to help with your health care needs, in any way they can.
